Indoor cycling has really taken off over the last year. With so many people being unable to get out and about during the pandemic, indoor cycling has offered a bit of respite from the daily routine and a way to get some exercise at the same time. Cycling studios are well aware of that. And as the country slowly reopens, some of them are starting to advertise free classes for first timers.
A free class is just what its name implies. You get to pedal and sweat alongside other cyclists without paying a dime. More often than not, free classes are aimed at beginners. However, studios do offer freebies to advanced riders as a way to get them in the door.
Should you take advantage of a free indoor cycling class? Only you can answer that question. But here are five reasons to seriously consider it, compliments of Salt Lake City’s Mcycle cycling studio:
1. Learn About the Sport
If you have never tried indoor cycling before, a free class is an excellent opportunity to familiarize yourself with the sport. It gets you on a bike without requiring you to invest hundreds of dollars in equipment and clothing. You get to try before you buy, so to speak. If nothing else, a free class will give you a good idea of what you could be getting yourself into.
2. Experience Classes First-Hand
Maybe you already know what indoor cycling is like. You have a bike at home, and you put in 20 to 30 minutes five days a week. That’s awesome. But indoor cycling in a class environment is completely different.
For some people, organized spinning classes are the only way to go. They wouldn’t ride their bikes any other way. And yes, some are content to do it from home via online classes. But there is nothing quite like an in-person class. Taking a free class gives you that experience firsthand.
3. Meet Some Instructors
Another great reason for taking advantage of a free class is the opportunity to meet some instructors. The fact is that cycling instructors come in all varieties. Some are more exuberant while others are more reserved. Some of them are laid-back. Others are more like drill sergeants. Meeting them, even if for a brief moment, can give you a feel of which personality type you most prefer.
4. Meet New People
Of course, taking a free class represents a terrific opportunity to meet some new people. You will meet the staff at the cycling studio. You will meet some of the instructors. You also meet other cyclists, some of whom are also taking the class for free. If you are a people person, what more could you ask for?
5. Get Answers to Your Questions
The fifth and final reason is one that Mcycle staff believes to be invaluable. What is it? The opportunity to get your questions answered. You might be very interested in taking regular classes but you don’t know anything about them. On the other hand, you may be completely new to the whole indoor cycling. You have tons of questions about everything from technique to workout intensity.
A reputable cycling studio offering free classes will do so without any obligation to students. If you have been considering indoor cycling at a local studio with a freebie offer, why not try it? The worst thing that could happen is that you decide you don’t like it and you never go back. On the other hand, a free class could open the door to something really incredible.
